Reserve Cycles From Tank

Objective This module calculates the number of reserve cycles available for a given tank size after failure of the compressed air supply system.

Required Data Time to Extend, Demand Flow Extend, Maximum Tank Pressure, Tank Size, Time to Retract, Demand Flow Retract, and Minimum Operating Pressure.

Input Item Descriptions

Time to Extend (sec) - The time for the cylinder to fully extend in seconds (duration of the demand flow extend). Demand Flow Extend (SCFM)/(nl/m) - The flow rate during the extend stroke. Maximum Tank Pressure (PSIG)/(bar) - The maximum pressure that the tank will be charged to. Tank Size (gal)/(Liters) - The available tank size in Gallons or Liters. Time to Retract (sec) - The time for the cylinder to fully retract (duration of the demand flow retract). Demand Flow Retract (SCFM)/(nl/m) - The flow rate during the retract stroke. Minimum Operating Pressure (PSIG)/(bar) - The minimum pressure at which the component or system will operate properly.

Calculated Item Descriptions

Maximum Operating Delta P (PSI)/(bar) - The maximum pressure differential in the tank for proper operation. This is the maximum tank pressure minus minimum operating pressure. Tank Size (cu. ft)/(cu. meters) - The available tank size in cubic feet or cubic meters. Number of Cycles Possible - The number of cycles the component or system being evaluated will operate from the reserve pressure in the available tank.
