Actuator Calculations

his module will calculate the volume of both ends of a cylinder, maximum suggest load for each direction, and the flow for each direction. This is very useful for determining the correct cylinder bore, as well as the FRL size (based on flow) and the necessary air supply capacity.

Cylinder Bore, Stroke, Rod Diameter, Extend and Retract Times, Design Pressure for the Extend and Retract.

The cylinder bore diameter in inches or millimeter.
The cylinder stroke length in inches or millimeter.
The cylinder rod diameter in inches or millimeter.
The amount of time it takes for the cylinder to extend.
The pressure that is applied to the blind end of the cylinder.
The amount of time it takes for the cylinder to retract.
The pressurethat is applied to the rod end of the cylinder.

The area of the piston in the blind end of the cylinder.
The volume of the blind end of the cylinder in the fully extended position.
The volume of the blind end of the cylinder in the fully extended position.
The maximum suggested load for the cylinder to extend. This number allows for a 33% safety factor.
The flow during the extend stroke.
The area of the piston minus the cross-sectional area of the rod.
The volume of the rod end of the cylinder in the fully retracted position.
The volume of the rod end of the cylinder in the fully retracted position.
The maximum suggested load for the cylinder to retract. This number allows for a 33% safety factor.
The flow during the retract stroke.
